Well...I finally did it! Baring my soul to the world, I introduce to you my life-long dream...a custom childrens' clothing line, and just in time for Spring!! My line is fun, fresh, and totally feminine (but don't worry, I do boys stuff too!)...infusing fun bold patterns and bright colors to create special pieces perfect for photographs, birthdays, or any special occasion! Look for all of my Spring designs over the coming days! If you're looking for something specific, please just let me know...I'm always looking for new inspiration!
I grew up in a land of beauty pageants & Southern hospitality and both are vital parts of who I am. Now before you go deciding I'm one of those crazies destined to set the Feminist Movement back about 100 years, let me explain. I was born the only girl grandchild on both sides of my family. Luckily, my Daddy's baby sister was only 16 when I was born and she quickly decided that I was to be her new baby doll. She drove a vintage Volkswagon Beetle (Baby Blue, of course) and everywhere she went she was accompanied by yours truly. She also possessed the most amazing talent for creating beautiful pageant gowns. Now, the trick to pageants is you typically need money, and lots of it! We weren't exactly rolling in that particular commodity but we were determined to be included. My beautiful, amazing aunt began making pageant dresses for me (not that this was anything new...she had made all of her own prom dresses and was always the prettiest at the ball, I might add). We thought we were pretty much "hot stuff"...she did my hair & make-up and dressed me in that beautiful gown and off we went to our first pageant, fully expecting to finish dead last but we didn't care. Would you believe we actually placed??!! That first pageant lead to a LONG line of many, many more...some we won, some we didn't, but we always had a blast playing dress-up and before long we were selling her one of a kind gowns right off my back! Through those pageants, I learned poise, confidence, and gained a healthy self-esteem that I carry with me to this day. And my aunt...well, these days she's in very high demand. If you live in South Georgia and have ever been anywhere near a pageant you've seen her gowns. Her work was even featured in a recent episode of "Toddlers & Tiaras" on TLC! Yes, these days her name is pretty much synonymous with pageantry...and we wouldn't have it any other way!
She also spent a lot of time with me, teaching me to craft beautiful clothing out of yards of fabric. We like things bright & colorful...patterns that make people smile. It is that feeling that I hope to convey in my own designs.
I hope you enjoy my creations, I certainly enjoyed making them. Til next time...
